John Evans, MD, FAAD
John Evans, MD, FAAD, is the founder of Alabama Dermatology and Skin Specialists and a board-certified dermatologist.
After graduating summa cum laude from the University of Alabama – Huntsville with an electrical engineering degree, Dr. Evans earned his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, graduating magna cum laude. He completed his medical training with a dermatology residency at one of the highest ranked dermatology residency programs, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City, serving as chief resident.
He worked at a dermatology practice in Arkansas before returning to his Alabama roots and opening Alabama Dermatology and Skin Specialists in Huntsville.
Dr. Evans specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of most skin disorders and diseases, both common and rare. His focus is on finding the solution to whatever dermatological problem brings patients to his clinic.
Dr. Evans has authored more than 10 poster or peer-reviewed publications and has received a variety of honors during his medical training. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the medical honor society, and is an active member in the American Academy of Dermatology. He is also board-certified in micrographic surgery.
Dr. Evans’ interests outside of dermatology include spending time with his wife and daughters, traveling, eating out, going to the movies and watching SEC football.
BRIGETT Payne, CRNP
Brigett Payne, CRNP is a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from The University of Alabama in 2006 and earned her Master’s in Nursing from UAB in 2013. She worked as a Registered Nurse for several years in both inpatient and outpatient settings and has practiced as a Nurse Practitioner in Dermatology for the last 8 years. She is a member of the Alabama Society of Dermatology Professionals and is certified as a Nurse Practitioner by AANP. Brigett has the training and experience to help you!
Brigett lives in the Guntersville area with her husband, daughter, son, and their cat and dog. She loves being outdoors with her family! She particularly enjoys caring for her plants and baking cinnamon rolls and also enjoys traveling to the mountains with her family.
Hannah RAY, CRNP
Meet our dermatology nurse practitioner, Hannah Ray, CRNP. Hannah is skilled and knowledgeable practitioner who is passionate about providing excellent patient care.
Hannah was born and raised in Athens, AL. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Mobile in 2013 before pursuing a Master of Science in Nursing from UAH. She is board-certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitoners (AANP) as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP).
As a dermatology nurse practitioner, Hannah provides a wide range of services, including skin cancer screenings, acne treatment, mole removal, and biopsies. She also educates patients on proper skincare practices and offers personalized treatment plans tailored to their specific needs.
Hannah is known for her compassionate and patient-centered approach to care, always taking the time to listen to patients' concerns and answer any questions they may have. Her goal is to help patients achieve healthy, beautiful skin while also promoting overall wellness.
Outside of work, Hannah enjoys spending time with her husband and three children. She is also involved in her church. Working out is another favorite pastime.

Alden Jenkins, PA-C
Meet Alden Jenkins, a dedicated Physician Assistant originally from Birmingham, Alabama. She started her journey in the medical field by earning her undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences from Auburn University. After completing her undergraduate studies, Alden began her career in dermatology, working as a medical assistant for a well-known practice specializing in general and cosmetic dermatology.
Driven by her passion for patient care, Alden pursued further education and earned her Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Alabama-Birmingham. She is a board-certified provider through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), committing herself to upholding the highest standards of medical practice and patient care.
Beyond her professional life, Alden finds great joy in her role as a loving wife and mother to her son, with another son coming in late 2023, along with their family dog, Hank. Additionally, Alden has a love for being outside and traveling with her family.
As a Physician Assistant, she is committed to providing patient-centered care, delivering compassionate and evidence-based medical solutions to her patients. Her aim is to build strong patient-provider relationships, ensuring that each individual feels valued, heard, and well-cared for throughout their healthcare journey.
Hannah BROCATO, FNP-C
Hannah Brocato, FNP-C, is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner certified by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. She earned her bachelor's degree in nursing from the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2016. With a background in both ICU and dermatology, Hannah then pursued her master's degree at UAH, completing it in 2021. Since graduating, Hannah has been dedicated to her role as a nurse practitioner, bringing her expertise and compassionate care to her patients.
Hannah is happily married to Ryan Brocato, and they reside in Scottsboro together. Their family includes two beloved dogs, and they share a mutual passion for boating, traveling, and camping adventures.
